CROSSFADER

Youth Exchanges

Cross Culture is the founder and promoter of the Crossfader INCA (International Network of Culture and Art) project, from which the CROSSFADER youth exchanges have emerged, with the aim of making young participants aware of the different social and cultural realities that exist in the world, promoting mutual understanding and the exchange of cultures, languages, thoughts, values, experiences and skills, among other things.

Version 1

London / September / 2013

A group of 8 young people living in Madrid, Spain, members of the Youth Network of Artists in Spain, promoted by the NGDO CULTECO, travelled to London to produce a song and a video clip together with a group of 8 young people living in London, England, both groups belonging to the migrant population and coming from their respective countries.

The two groups of young people chose youth in Europe as the main theme of the song and called it 'European Youth'.

Version 2

Madrid / September / 2015

It brought together two groups of young artists from London and Madrid, promoting mutual understanding between young people from different cultures through the joint creation of two songs and two video clips, bringing them together through art, using cultural diversity as an inspiration and a tool for identification and appropriation, both individually and as a group.

Version 3

Madrid / August / 2017

It brought together three groups of young people living in Spain, England and France, making it possible to mobilise young artists from collectives and populations with fewer opportunities.

The programmed activities sought to ensure that the cultural diversity that existed would allow them to identify themselves not only as citizens of their country, but of the world, approaching different social and cultural contexts, recognising the environment and realities that they share in the same continent, which led them to jointly compose the song ¨Stop the War¨, rejecting the violent actions that these three countries were experiencing in those years.

Version 4

Madrid / August / 2019

In this version it was proposed to bring together four groups of young people living in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and France, making it possible to mobilise young artists from different areas of collectives and populations with fewer opportunities in the capitals and other cities of these countries.

Different integration activities were carried out, such as multicultural youth circles, language exchanges, as well as the joint composition of the song ¨Conexión¨, the theme of which emerged after a debate in which each young participant was asked to present a situation in the world or in their country that they believe needs attention from different people or populations that inhabit the world. Topics such as global warming, the environment, racism, discrimination, Brexit, migration and others came to the fore.
